It’s no secret that I love Advent – probably more than Christmas itself. Ali Edwards has done a project during Advent for the past few years, and I’ve often thought about jumping in. It is essentially a month-long scrap book, telling the stories of what we’re doing during the Advent season.
This year, she offered mini kits and I decided to order a couple, and jump right in. Ali calls this December Daily, but I’m going to start my album on Thanksgiving. If I started on December 1st we’d miss getting our Christmas tree, decorating it, putting up lights, making an Advent wreath at church, the first Sunday of Advent, and a bunch of other Christmasy things that need to be in our album about Christmastime.
I pre-ordered everything back in September, and anxiously awaited the delivery. We happened to be outside in the the front yard when the UPS man dropped it off. I was too excited to wait, so we opened it in our front lawn.
People who do December Daily tend to get things ready ahead of time, so that when December is here all they have to do is add photos and tell the stories. I’m a little unsure of how to do this, but I thought it would be good to get started by playing around with some of the materials.
I also made some number cards to put in the spreads for each day of the month. I really like how these numbers turned out. I’m excited to get the album next month so I can start putting the cards and pages into the page protectors.
I’m planning on sharing the album a lot during the month of December, so keep your eye out for that!
What are you doing already to get ready for the holiday season?
