Friday Gratitudes 26 & 27

Posted by Carolyn on July 11, 2014 2 Comments

Halfway through the year, and still loving this project.  I love taking the time to be grateful every single day.  I (obviously) don’t always get around to posting these every Friday, right on time, but I do always getting around to writing down my gratitude of the day on my calendar list.

20140701_174334 20140702_115514 20140702_180341(0) 20140704_082744 20140705_094931 20140705_105706 20140706_113603 20140706_125415 20140710_153017 20140710_160126Friday June 27: Laughter. We had a fun triple date with great friends.  Lots of good drinks, food, and laughter.

Saturday June 28: Breakfast.

Sunday June 29: Ice Cream. Alma had her first experience with an ice cream truck!  What magic!

Monday June 30:  Parks.

Tuesday July 1: Friends. We have some good ones!

Wednesday July 2: Adventure. We rode the ‘green bus,’ saw some construction, ran around the campus, and went to the track meet.  Good, good, good day.

Thursday July 3: Hult. We went to buy tickets to the Oregon Bach Festival kids concert and spent quite a long time exploring the Hult Center and all of its cool art.

Friday July 4: ‘Merica.Duh.

Saturday July 5: OBF. Oregon Bach Festival offers such great things for everyone, including concerts for kids.  This year it was Sleeping Beauty, which was a long poem performed by one man with multimedia art on a projector, and a pianist.  It was pretty cool, and Alma was enthralled!

Sunday July 6: Beach.  Oh how I love the beach.

Monday July 7:  Family.

Tuesday July 8:  Eugene.

Wednesday July 9: Runners.  Both the common nouns – Alma really loves running on the track at Hayward Field – and the proper nouns – the Runners are fun friends!

Thursday July 10: Swimming. Alma is getting so brave jumping in the water again and again and again and again and again!  And Harriet loves floating and splashing and laughing.

Friday Gratitudes 25

Posted by Carolyn on June 30, 2014 Leave a Comment

Oh gosh, last week was a mess.  We were all miserable and sick.  Jesse’s mom had surgery up here, so Jesse spent evenings visiting her.  We missed some fun playdates and hikes.  I only got 4,000 steps on both Tuesday and Wednesday.  It was rough.

But, still there are so many things for which to be grateful!  It’s the hard times that I appreciate things and people the most.  For sure. Even if this is a little late…

Friday the 20: Mom. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again.  My mom is the best.  She takes good care of my girls, and of me.

Saturday the 21: Theatre.Mom and I went to see Ordinary Days.  It was my second time.  I loved it.  Oregon Contemporary Theatre always does such a fantastic job with their shows.

Sunday the 22: Swimming. We got to go swimming at my dad’s club’s pool.  Alma and Harriet loved the water.  We were really smart, and last year bought some pool toys when they were on sale.  Alma floated around in her zebra ring the whole time, even kicking around.

Monday the 23: Doctors. We had Harriet’s 9 month check-up (a month late) and she’s growing perfectly.  Later in the afternoon, we went back to the doctor’s office because Alma’s fever was getting worse and worse.

Tuesday the 24: Jesse.  Jesse stayed home from work to take care of all of us.  I woke up sick, and knew I wouldn’t be much help.  Jesse and Harriet had a good day running errands and taking care of us sickies.

Wednesday the 25: Dad + Deena. My parents took Harriet for the day so Alma and I could just watching movies on the couch.  I’m sure it helped both of us recover.  As Daniel Tiger reminded us over and over, ‘when you’re sick, rest is best.’  I really appreciate my parents.  I think it’s cool that Harriet got to spend time with her grandparents by her self, too!

Thursday the 26: Normal.Things were finally getting back to normal.

Friday Gratitudes 21

Friday the 23rd: Happenstance. While waiting for our food at the Fisherman’s Market, a good friend from my past was also waiting.  It was lovely catching up with her, since she’s moving back east in just a couple weeks.

Saturday the 24th: Eugene.Seriously.  We are lucky to live in the amazing town with mountains in the morning and museums in the afternoon.

Sunday the 25th: Fitbit.Really loving this new ‘toy.’

Monday the 26th: Memorial. While I hate war, and basically everything it stands for, I’m grateful for all those who have lost their lives as a result.  Not grateful that they went to war in the first place, but respectful of their conviction and sacrifice.

Tuesday the 27th: Half Days. Subbing is awesome.  Subbing half days is super awesome.

Wednesday the 28th: Mom.She is a great babysitter, project instigator, confidant, and friend.

Thursday the 29th: Dates & Dad & Deena.I know, I know.  This should be one word.  But these three words are very tied together in this instance.  My dad and step-mom watched the kids, fed them, and put them to bed so Jesse and I could have an amazing date night.

Friday Gratitudes 20

Friday the 16th: Culture. In the morning, I took the girls and my mom to story time at the library.  Then we tried to go to the art museum.  We ran out of time, but we got to eat at the cafe, and see some of the outdoor sculptures.  Then, we went to hear my step-dad’s band play at a benefit.  Lots of fun culture!

Saturday the 17th: Pedicure.I don’t really need to explain why I’d be grateful for a pedicure do I?

Sunday the 18th: Plans. We had some friends over for lunch, and planned a really fun vacation with them this summer!  Now all we need to do is wait!  Oh man!

Monday the 19th: Subbing. Seriously.  Subbing is the best.  No grading, no planning.  Monday was a half-day job, too, so no pressure.  I get to hang out with kids, see what they’re working on, teach a couple lessons (sometimes), and take off.

Tuesday the 20th: Growing.

Wednesday the 21st: Art.This time mom and I actually made it into the museum with the girls.  And boy was it cool!  There are some great exhibits at the U of O Art Museum these days.  “Medusa Smack” was Alma’s favorite.

Thursday the 22nd: Pool.Alma loved playing in her pool for the first time this summer.  I can’t wait for more swimming time with my little fish.
